His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Cyril has been enthroned at February the 1st, 2009, in the cathedral of the Lord Jesus Christ the Saviour. He was elected at the General Assembly of the Russian Orthodox Church on January the 27th.
Hierarchs, monks and thousand of faithful were present in the church of the Lord Jesus Christ the Saviour. The President of Russian Federation Mr. D. A. Medvedev, the Russian Prime Minister, Mr. V. V. Putin, State administrators, and representatives of the government of other countries who’s Churches are under the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church. Turning their face to East, Metropolitan of Kiev Vladimir and the Metropolitan of Saint-Petersburg Vladimir, as the two oldest Metropolitan and permanent members of the Holy Synod, bowed three times together with the Patriarch, and taking his hand brought him to the patriarchy Higher place. Then after the words: “In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit” the oldest Metropolitans were placing the named Patriarch on the Throne three times in a row.

The celebrating of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom continued then in the church of the Lord Jesus Christ the Saviour.
Representatives of the Council of Mount Athos among who the Archimandrite Peter (the prior of the Monastery of Dionisiou), monk Photius from the Gregoriou Monastery and monk Kirion from St. Panteleimon Monastery also took presence at the Festive service.
Metropolitan of Kicevo and Debar Timothy and Metropolitan of Povardarie Agathangel arrived on behalf of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.
